Crested Butte, Colorado (Jan 2019)

Wow! Who would have thought Crescent would be so lucky to be dumped on not only in Steamboat but in Crested Butte too?! As 140 participants from 14 clubs arrived (barely from the East Coast) for the kickoff of CSC’s 50th Anniversary year, the snow soon followed and provided amazing terrain and powder for all to enjoy. If snow wasn’t enough, there was plenty of CSC activities to keep one busy. A great Welcome Reception greeted by the CEO, on mountain poker run which over half the participants got involved, generous lunch vouchers on the mountain, SAT’s wine tasting après (new vineyard and yummy), photo competition and Farewell Party at Butte 66. The highlights of the week were the Fresh Tracks for Trip Leaders and a guest on Thursday morning after snowing all day Wednesday, and a toast at the banquet. Following Mark & Carol McCall’s story about being members of CSC for 50 years, a champagne toast was had by all and Crested Butte honored us by lighting up the Butte. Unfortunately, with the heavy snow, you couldn’t see the lighted mountain – so everyone danced the night away instead! Lisa
