Crescent Ski Week — Mt Bachelor, OR
Fourteen Mashers recently returned home during the travel mayhem of the Blizzard of 2016 to the white lands of East TN after a fabulous trip to the Pacific Northwest. For those joining us on the Mountain, we experienced at times the wind howling, white-outs and swirling snowflake tornados, but in the end the Powder was magnificent! How awesome to glide through with an added bonus of calorie burn after over-eating while climbing out after falling. Additionally, Jack Frost along with Mother Nature carved out the most elaborate ice sculptures upon drifts, trees, and buildings leading one to believe they were on another planet. What an amazing sight!
On the trip, Crescent participants enjoyed the Welcome Party of cocktails and desserts in the incredible Great Hall at SunRiver Resort with it’s huge timber logs and fireplace to greet many old and new friends. The ensuing week was filled with many events including the Pub Crawl into downtown Bend, the Poker Run, Farewell dinner and dance, and lunch on the Mountain. There was a Lava Cave event that I missed, and unfortunately the excursion to Crater Lake with the snowshoe hiking was cancelled due to too much snow blocking the roadways. As a skier, can there really be too much? Take a look at the pictures as they speak much more than words. For those who did not come along, The Bend, OR area is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream come true and should be experienced both Winter and Summer!
